DUTIES:

- Strategic Leadership and Program Development
- Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for the Montana Tech Leadership Program.
- Develop and implement a strategic plan aligned with Montana Tech’s institutional mission and strategic priorities.
- Establish and maintain the Program’s organizational structure, governance model, operational policies, and assessment processes.
- Develop and refine a scalable “hub-and-spoke” model that coordinates leadership-related initiatives across academic and co-curricular programs.
- Lead the Leadership Program committee in the design of a coherent four-year developmental pathway emphasizing self-awareness, ethical action, collaboration, resilience, and impact that the Director will implement.
- Oversee continuous assessment and improvement of Program programs and initiatives.
- Student Recruitment, Engagement, and Mentorship
- Recruit, select, advise, and mentor students participating in the Leadership Program cohort program.
- Foster a student-centered culture that emphasizes personal growth, intellectual courage, experiential learning, and community engagement.
- Develop and oversee signature student experiences including seminars, retreats, mentorship programs, community-engaged projects, internships, industry partnerships, and interdisciplinary challenges.
- Support student leadership development opportunities across campus organizations, athletics, academic programs, and student life initiatives.
- Promote inclusive participation and engagement among students from diverse academic backgrounds and levels of preparation.
- Academic and Faculty Collaboration
- Collaborate with faculty and academic leaders to integrate leadership-related learning outcomes into existing curricula and co-curricular experiences.
- Coordinate the development of Program-designated courses, seminars, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Recruit and support affiliated faculty and external partners engaged in Program programming.
- Provide faculty development opportunities related to mentorship, experiential learning, project-based learning, and leadership pedagogy.
- Serve as a liaison among academic colleges, Highlands College, student affairs, athletics, and external partners to advance Program goals.
- Partnerships, Advancement, and External Engagement
- Develop and sustain partnerships with industry, alumni, community organizations, and public-sector stakeholders to support experiential learning and workforce development.
- Collaborate with University Advancement and external partners to secure philanthropic support, grants, sponsorships, and other external funding opportunities.
- Represent the Leadership Program and Montana Tech in external meetings, conferences, community events, and professional organizations.
- Promote the Program through strategic communications, storytelling, recruitment initiatives, and public engagement activities.
- Operations and Administration
- Manage the Program’s operational budget and resources responsibly and strategically.
- Supervise Program staff, student employees, graduate assistants, and affiliated personnel as assigned.
- Collect, analyze, and communicate data related to student participation, retention, engagement, career outcomes, and program effectiveness.
- Prepare annual reports and assessment materials demonstrating progress toward Program goals and institutional priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of Montana Technological University.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution; doctorate preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in higher education leadership, student development, academic administration, experiential learning, or related fields.
- Evidence of effective leadership, program development, and organizational management.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators, industry partners, and community stakeholders.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success, mentorship, and inclusive excellence.
- Experience with strategic planning, assessment, budgeting, and program evaluation.
- Ability to develop and sustain partnerships that support experiential learning and workforce readiness.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience leading interdisciplinary or cohort-based educational initiatives.
- Experience with fundraising, grant development, donor relations, or external partnership development.
- Experience integrating leadership development within STEM, health sciences, business, trades, or applied learning environments.
- Familiarity with workforce development and industry-engaged educational models.
- Experience supporting high-impact educational practices such as internships, undergraduate research, community engagement, or project-based learning.
