Duties:
The Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences department at Montana Technological University is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant Professor, Social Sciences starting the fall semester of the 2025/26 academic year. This position is campus-based and will begin August 18, 2025.
In addition to engaging in scholarship within their field, the successful candidate will teach general education courses in the social sciences with a focus on political science and global cultures and development, depending on the candidate's areas of expertise. The normal teaching load for this position is 9 credits per semester. These courses typically range from 15-25 students per class.
The IAS department serves the General Education needs of the MTU campus and offers two multidisciplinary majors. The successful candidate will also advise a portion of IAS majors. Additional responsibilities could include, but are not limited to student recruitment, course creation, curriculum design, and student success efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Political Science or equivalent social science at position start date
- Ability to integrate AI technologies in instruction and scholarship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous college-level teaching experience in Political Science or equivalent social sciences
- Ability to teach a wide range of undergraduate courses in social sciences including courses such as Intro to Political Science; Intro to American Government; and Culture, Change, and Global Development
- Interest in indigenous studies
