DUTIES:
General campus grounds cleaning & maintenance; Snow removal and sanding of sidewalks and streets. Fertilizing, mowing, weed eating, watering, maintaining sprinkler systems, turf maintenance, pruning, planting, weeding, aerating, power raking, blowing out sprinkler systems and trash removal. Keeping all equipment in good running condition for each season. Moving, office furniture, and equipment. Graduation set up, yearly plant-in for campus. Assist in directing the work of student assistants. Takes the lead of Grounds crew in absence of the Grounds Manager. Addresses weed control through herbicide applications.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of pest management practices and procedures, including weed management.
- Required to obtain Pesticide license for # 55 Regulatory Weeds from the Montana Department of Agriculture within 4 months of award of the Groundskeeper II position. Must maintain the license year to year.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to perform constant physical activity, including moving equipment, furniture and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis; performing push/pull activity with equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis and up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis; performing duties with repetitive motion of wrists, arm, and shoulders; possessing hand and finger coordination; being able to reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, and kneel; working with chemicals, cleaning equipment, dust, fumes, and odors; being exposed to hot/cold temperatures, and perform snow/ice removal.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures of grounds construction and care;
- Knowledge of operating grounds maintenance and grounds construction equipment and tools;
- One year or more gardening and groundskeeping duties.
- Experience maintaining large grounds preferred.
