DUTIES & QUALIFICATIONS:
Contribute to research and teaching in materials science and engineering and related disciplines. Applicants must be collaborative, excellent communicators able and interested to contribute to one or more of the four focus areas of Montana’s new collaborative Materials Science Ph.D. program:
• Materials synthesis, processing and fabrication, including extractive metallurgy
• Materials for energy storage, conversion and conservation
• Electronic, photonic and magnetic materials
The Montana Materials Ph.D. program integrates a broad range of physical science, life science, and engineering disciplines with a broader range of applications, from health and medicine to nanotechnology to energy, environment and natural resources. These post-doctoral opportunities involve research (67%) and teaching (33%) at the undergraduate and graduate levels, publication, and grant writing to prepare for academic research/teaching careers. Extensive laboratory facilities and a high-performance computer (HPC) cluster with 3-D visualization capability are available on campus.
A recent or imminent Ph.D. is required in a field applicable to the listed research areas—especially to the first three areas, which are active at Montana Tech. Individuals with strength in experimentation, process development, modeling, simulation, or theory are encouraged to apply
