Montana Tech is seeking a Computer Support Specialist III to join our team. This role involves resolving complex technical issues, researching and implementing new technologies, and providing advanced support to faculty, staff, computer labs, and classrooms across all departments and colleges, including Highlands College. Our goal is to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resolve complex technical problems and provide advanced support.
- Research and implement new technologies.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of computer labs and classrooms.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Prepare instructional documents for internal use.
- Communicate with vendors to troubleshoot and implement new technologies.
- Lead the installation and maintenance of hardware, software, peripheral equipment, and operating systems.
- Research, design, implement, maintain, and document required technologies.
- Provide cross-training to other Computer Support Specialists and the Computer Support Specialist Manager.
- Generally, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Occasionally, on-call duties and alternate schedules may be required.
- Associate degree in Networking, Technology, Information Technology, or a related field, or 4 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Networking Technology, Information Technology, or a related field; CompTIA A+ certification; understanding of hypervisor administration and maintenance; experience with computer peripherals (printers, projectors, mobile devices, cameras, etc.).

- Lift over 50 pounds.
- Walk, bend, sit, and stand for extended periods.
- Kneel, climb ladders (6 ft and higher), and crouch.
- Carry equipment up to three flights of stairs.
- Move equipment via a cart across campus, including up and down hills.
