Duties:
The Director of Business Services is responsible for all student financial billings, collections, refunds, tuition calculation, and all other aspects of Student Business Services. Ensures proper coordination and operational efficiencies between areas within Business Services and between Business Services, Financial Aid, Enrollment Services, and other financial areas.
- Responsible for the accurate and efficient flow of all financial activity between Banner Student A/R, Banner Finance and the state accounting system (SABHRS), and reconciliation of the software modules.
- Manage and supervise Accounts Receivable, Cashiering, Collection, and campus disbursement of student fees to ensure the internal operations of areas function efficiently and effectively.
- Responsible for updating, assessing and publishing tuition and fee rates as approved by the Montana Board of Regents.
- Coordinate the collection of daily revenue with campus departments and appropriate vendors to conduct daily Montana Tech’s deposits to the state of Montana.
- Develop policies and procedures for Accounts Receivable, Cashiering, and Collection functions to ensure the integrity of the University’s accounting systems as well as improve business processes where possible.
- Supervise a staff of 3, in additional to student employees.
- Coordinate and perform testing to certify Banner Student (A/R) is functioning properly.
- Work with appropriate university departments to develop and implement new procedures and/or controls to eliminate errors.
- Responsible for ensuring that all deposits made to Montana Tech are according to state regulations.
- Provide information to students/parents regarding student billing and collection processes, as well as responding to inquiries or complaints about the related processes.
- Coordinate with campus departments to reflect proper billing and assessment of fees for credit courses.
- Coordinate the production and distribution of student bills and 1098T tax forms.
- Manage student receivables portfolios, including deferred payment plans.
- Position reports to the Director of Finance and Budget and will assist with other tasks as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, financial or related field.
- Knowledge and understanding of Banner Finance and Banner Student/Accounts Receivable module.
- Experience providing quality customer service in a complex environment.
- High level of profn
- iciency with accounting principles, practices, and techniques, including reconciliation.
- Excellent oral, written a
- d interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to develop creative solutions to meet the University’s objectives while maintaining compliance.
- Ability to handle different situations independently with students and parents maintaining composure and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of financial aid Title IV funding
- Supervisory experience
