DUTIES:
The Communication and Events Coordinator plays a vital role in the recruitment of new students to Montana Technological University by managing the campus visit program, planning and managing all recruitment events, hiring and supervising the department’s student employees, and assisting in implementation of visit and event communication campaigns using CRM software.
The ideal candidate for this position possesses excellent organizational skills, with event planning experience strongly preferred. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are expected, with public speaking experience a plus. A background in marketing and/or work in a higher education environment are desirable. Lastly, the successful candidate will be a team player, willing to step outside their comfort zone to help the team, and able to maintain a positive attitude.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Plan, manage, and evaluate all campus recruitment events, both in-person and virtual, including Tech Day open houses, Registration Rally admitted student events, Scholars Banquets, and group visits from high schools.
Organize and plan personalized campus visits for prospective students.
Hire, train, and supervise the department’s student workers who provide campus tours, staff the front desk, and help with other recruiting tasks.
Coordinate the student ambassador program.
Support admissions representatives in coordinating territory-based recruitment events.
Compose, edit, and manage visit and event email campaigns, personal URL webpages, and events calendar in CRM software.
Serve as the site host for the annual college fair hosted on Montana Tech's campus.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Work in a team-oriented, flexible, and customer-service oriented manner, fostering and maintaining strong relationships with program and University partners.
A somewhat flexible work schedule is required to accommodate occasional off-hour events.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- The ability to work a flexible schedule allowing occasional night or weekend events
- Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong office software aptitude with ability to quickly learn new applications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Marketing/PR experience
- Experience working in higher education environment
- Event planning experience
- Public speaking experience
- Copywriting experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The ability to lift up to 49 pounds
- Ability to stand for up to 2 hours
